Situation

Mapping processes

The municipality of Midden-Delfland wanted to improve its operational efficiency and its financial policy options. The finance and policy department is therefore mapping and optimising its processes, with support from student consultants of Student Consultant.

The support covers several internal projects with a general focus on process modelling. The issues range from setting up the contract management process and drawing up a strategy for the invoicing process to optimising the processes for fees (leges).

Approach

Collaborating and researching independently

  1. Close collaborationThe student consultants work closely with the employees of the finance and policy department.
  2. Own researchAt the same time, they carry out independent research to map processes. For example, they conducted market research among municipalities and held interviews with employees.
  3. Analysis as inputThe research results were analysed and serve as direct input for the processes that the student consultants map and optimise.
