Situation

Data as the basis for decisions

Data forms the basis for analyses and important decision-making, and a good data structure contributes to their effectiveness. The Campus & Facilities (C&F) division of Radboud University makes extensive use of data. Student Consultant spent six months on a gap analysis of data use within this division.

C&F wanted to find out how the efficiency of data storage, data transfer and data use could be improved. Student Consultant was asked to formulate recommendations for handling this data more effectively and improving the processes.

Approach

From current situation to implementation plan

  1. Mapping the current situationThe current situation was mapped through several interviews with employees inside and outside the C&F division. Flowcharts were created as part of this.
  2. Drawing up the implementation planBased on the current situation and desk research, Student Consultant drew up an implementation plan for the data strategy, with guidance on a storage policy, categorisation of the data and the appointment of owners for this data. The plan takes into account the general laws and regulations that apply to all universities in the Netherlands.
