A housing challenge with 16 villages
The Municipality of Horst aan de Maas is an extensive municipality with 16 villages and a strong ambition to shape its housing challenge towards 2030 in a local and future-oriented way. At the time of the project, the Masterplan Wonen set the ambition to permit 1,000 homes before 2025.
Student Consultant analysed the local housing market to contribute to this Masterplan Wonen, with a village plan for each village that offers a projection of that village's development.
The municipality wanted to be able to make well-founded choices per village: how many homes should be built, in what ratio of rental to owner-occupied, and which type of homes matches residents' actual demand. This required bringing together different data sources and local parties.
How can the municipality make well-founded choices per village about the number of homes to be built, the right split between rental and owner-occupied and the type of homes that matches residents' actual demand?
